The parabolic shape of the deep Profoto umbrellas gives better light-shaping control by limiting the light spread and concentrating the beam for a more directional light. It also allows you to focus and shape light by simply sliding the umbrella shaft backward or forward in its holder.
For a more diffused light it can be used with the optional Diffuser.
